Project Overview
Harvest for the Hungry (H4H), a nonprofit, expanded the
number of beginning farmers and beekeepers in rural Brazoria County, Texas. The
program’s objectives included: 1) Creating equitable and inclusive
opportunities; 2) Teaching sustainable agricultural practices; and 3)
Supporting access to capital and funding resources. In 2024, H4H recruited
41 beginning farmers and beekeepers in Brazoria County, Texas (BBB); 2) Enabled 32+ BBB to gain
knowledge and improve production techniques; and 3) Assisted 25+ BBB
participants in developing income-generating farm business practices. In 2025, H4H anticipates recruiting another
40+ BBB to undergo a year-long training with quarterly modules in farming,
beekeeping, agribusiness, and hands-on practicums. Additional support will
include individualized consultations in production, business development, and
financial planning.
